Roger Jackson understands the challenges facing today's youth.  He grew up in a single-parent home with his mother, sister, and brother in Macon's Tindall Heights, a public housing development.  He graduated from Central High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in physical education from Bethune Cookman College in Daytona Beach, FL.  In 1982, he signed with the Denver Broncos as a defensive back, and retired after playing five extraordinary seasons. Roger spent a total of 18 years in the NFL, including his 13 years as a scout. Roger scouted for the Minnesota Vikings for (9) years, Kansas City Chiefs for (2) years, and the Denver Broncros for (2) years.

For years, it had been Roger's desire to give back to the community that helped him fulfill his dream of playing in the NFL.  So, after his retirement, he returned to his hometown and founded Motivating Youth Foundation, Inc. (MOYO).  In February of 2009, just a month after the Bibb County Board of Education discontinued thirteen after-school programs due to funding cuts, MOYO opened its doors at the Macon Housing Authority's Family Investment Center, located within the Davis Homes community.  In the first month, MOYO enrolled more than one hundred students in the after-school program, serving students from twenty-five public schools across Bibb County and nearly forty students from within the Davis Homes community.  Immediately successful, the program enrolled 170 students in its first MOYO Summer Program.
